Why AWS Is Dominating The Cloud Marketplace

AWS cloud

AWS(Amazon Web Services) is an AWS cloud computing platform by Amazon. It provides on-demand computing services to individuals, companies, and the government on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The services range from providing software, hardware, operating systems to networking support. We will discuss AWS basics later, as here let us explore why AWS is on top in spite of being in so much competition.

AWS Cloud computing mainly offer three types of services to its customers:

1.Infrastructure as a service(IaaS):

With this type of service companies control their networking, computing, and storage components without having to manage them physically. IaaS gives on-demand infrastructure on a pay-as-you-go basis over the internet.

2.Platform as a service(PaaS):

This service provides the framework to the developers to build applications. PaaS lease the infrastructure for the complete application cycle, ie. Testing, development, deployment, and maintenance. It helps organizations by avoiding the unnecessary purchases of software licenses.

3.Software as a Service(SaaS):

This service takes care of enabling software services to organizations via a third party. In this case, the IT administrators need not install software on individual workstations as SaaS provides host software on their servers and leases them to organizations for use.

Well, there are many other big companies that are offering cloud computing like IBM, Google, Microsoft. But, AWS cloud is in the lead with around 52% of the market share. Although, cloud computing services are there for the past two decades but have gained popularity lately.

So, let us see how AWS cloud has been on the top for some time.

Top Reasons: Why AWS cloud Is Leading The Marketplace

1.Constant Price Drops :

Amazon, since the inception of AWS cloud in 2006, is aggressively investing to expand its network. The wider the network, the greater the economies of scale enable them to offer lower prices to the customers.                                                                                                                                                AWS is constantly cutting prices since its launch.

2. Infrastructure and Innovations:

AWS has always focussed on innovation and customer satisfaction, which is way more than just computing and storage. It keeps on developing new infrastructure to meet its customer needs.

3.Amazon was the First to launch:

AWS gave head start to cloud services and owned the market before other companies could come up with similar services.

‘Virtuous cycle’ started by AWS, begins with getting more customers and adding more servers and features to the platform. In this way, the customer enjoys a price drop and Amazon gets more customers. So it becomes a win-win situation.

4. Easily scalable and faster:

As compared to its competitors, AWS cloud computing is easily scalable and quick in its services due to the following reasons:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               1.Diverse customer base                                                                                                                           2. An extensive network of partners that provides services.                                                                     3. Larger tech partners ecosystem                                                                                                           4. A wide range of strategic adoption tools                                                                                               5. Rapid service offerings.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Organizations can use auto-scaling to match their load demands rather than maintaining capacity

5. One year test it out free:

AWS offers its customers one year of free usage of its platform to get hands-on experience of AWS cloud computing. So, for a year users can test services like Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, etc. before committing to full cloud migration.

Once you use cloud services for a year, you can’t stay without it as it is so fast and reliable that you eventually migrate to the cloud permanently.

Conclusion:

We now know why AWS is the leader in its field and constantly growing. The cloud model, its innovative approach, faster services, scalability, and so many features make it unique from its competitors.                                                                                                                                        Due to the coronavirus pandemic from last year, the demand for cloud services has increased significantly as more and more organizations are operating remotely and opting for AWS cloud services more than their competitors due to its low price range.
