Rishikesh has long been regarded as a spiritual haven. The holy Ganges has always drawn those seeking direction and inspiration, including devout Hindus, yoga and meditation gurus, and even the Beatles! In fact, Rishikesh is known as the “Land of God.”

However, many people are unaware that Rishikesh is known by two names, the latter of which is The Adventure Capital of India. And it’s easy to see why: from whitewater rafting on the Ganges to jungle waterfall trekking, Uttarakhand is brimming with adventure opportunities.

Best Things To Do In Rishikesh

Here are the top activities to do in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, India, ranging from waterfall trekking in stunning highland scenery to river rafting down the Ganges River.

  • River Rafting

Whitewater rafting (river rafting) is undoubtedly Rishikesh’s most iconic adventure sport, providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the holy river in all its majesty.

Because the rafting scene in Rishikesh is very substantial, there are various firms and excursions selling whitewater trips. You’ll also find alternative routes depending on your level of experience.

This Rishikesh whitewater rafting excursion is one of the best and most affordable in the city, with four options:

  • Brahmapuri- Nim Beach with 9Km
  • Shivpuri- Nim Beach with 16 Km
  • Marine Drive – Nim Beach with 25 Km
  • Kodiyala- Nim Beach with 35 Km

However, Price depends upon the distance.

  • Waterfall Trekking

While many of the Rishikesh adventure activities and sights on this list require payment, treks are always a wonderful free choice. They’re even wonderful when there’s a waterfall involved.

Rishikesh is located in the Himalayan foothills. As a result of this peculiar rocky landscape, some stunning limestone waterfalls can be found on the adjacent sloping slopes.

  • Cliff Jumping

Cliff jumping is popular along the Ganges River’s steep banks. People are frequently seen jumping off big boulders and rocky embankments into pools of calm Ganga water.

There are hundreds of nice sites to choose from, ranging from little 3-meter drops to huge 15-meter+ jumps.

If you’re new to the area, I’d recommend hiring a guide to show you the ropes. There were no Rishikesh tours that only involved cliff leaping. However, both the whitewater rafting excursion mentioned above and the camping trip (described below) feature organized cliff leaps.

  • Camping

Getting back to nature in Rishikesh is always a welcome change of pace after the rush and bustle of Indian backpacking and travel. If you want to spend a few days visiting the best of Rishikesh and camping with like-minded travelers in the forests beside the world’s holiest river, I’ve got you covered.

Where To Stay in Rishikesh

Tapovan Area has the tourist attraction in Rishikesh. You can stay over there. This place is known as a haven, which means it is safe & peaceful to stay. You can enjoy the time of introspecting yourself here.

Other than this, if you want to stay in hotels you can stay in Hotel Paradise at triveni ghat. It is so close to the ghat. At night, you can view the market from your balcony. You also have the option to take Ganga View Rooms, where you can stay up with ghat view.

Moreover, for adventure love they can do camping as we have aforementioned.

How To Get Here?

Most of the visitors get here from Delhi or via a stopover.

The Best way to reach Rishikesh is by bus. Take a bus from kashmere gate at delhi. It takes around 6-7 Hours by bus to reach rishikesh. The best thing about buses is , you don’t need to change buses. There is only one bus that you need to board to reach here. On the other hand, If I talk about the train, you need to book your ticket for haridwar & after reaching here, you need to take a bus or a cab to reach rishikesh. Moreover, By flight you need to first deboard at Dehradun & then proceed towards Rishikesh.

From the above options, the best & affordable is Bus. And I want to add on here, Superbmytrip is giving amazing offers & deals on Bus Ticket Booking. So, If you want to make your rishikesh trip all the more affordable. You can go for it.

Best Time For Rishikesh Trip

You can visit anytime here. Be it Summer, Winter or Rainy Season, you can enjoy staying up over here. But the best months to visit here are:

February, March, May, July, August, September, October, November, December & January.

Budget For Rishikesh Trip

Your Budget will totally depend upon the activities you are doing in Rishikesh. However, I am aware that I am accustomed to “cheap” and “backpacking” travel. I stay in cheap shared dorm rooms, eat street cuisine, and prefer to walk great distances rather than take a taxi. I chose to travel in this manner because I enjoy the simplicity of low-cost travel.

However, I appreciate that other travelers have less time to explore and want to treat themselves. The cheapest trip at rishikesh requires around Rs.4000.

HOW MANY DAYS SHOULD I STAY IN RISHIKESH?

Because the wonderful city of Rishikesh has so many activities and sights to see, determining how long to spend here is challenging.

If you’re coming to Rishikesh for outdoor activities like trekking, waterfalls, or river rafting, I recommend staying for at least a week.

It’s common for those looking for more spiritual activities to do in Rishikesh, such as yoga and meditation retreats, to stay for at least two weeks. That being said, I met several folks who came for a couple of days and ended up staying for months.

This city entices you. With some of the top yoga schools and ashrams in the world, many individuals stay to complete their yoga teacher training or simply to relax.
